A few days ago we met some friends at the Earthbound Farms pumpkin patch and corn maze. The kids loved it!
I think this is the only time that they were both beside me at the same time all afternoon--they just ran and explored until they were exhausted!
Carson was fascinated by all the different kinds of pumpkins-he also wanted to pick all of them up.
While everyone else was walked to the corn maze Carson decided that he wanted to open and close this gate....again, and again and again!

Sequoia National Park
Two weeks ago we joined some friends at Sequoia National Park. The original plan was to go camping.....then I decided that camping might not be the best idea given that I am 8 months pregnant and sleeping is difficult already!! Luckily Mike and Shannon were more than happy to rent a cabin with us! The kids had a blast running around together, exploring the woods and fishing!
Carson loved being in the woods! Can you believe he is already 16 months old and going to be the "big brother!"
The whole family gathered around a HUGE sequoia! These trees were just awe inspiring!
Peighton and Brooke loved posing for the camera! Cute, crazy girlies!
There is just no way to describe how HUGE these trees are. It made me dizzy just trying to look up at them.
Dave and Carson look so small next to this tree don't they!
Ahhhhh Fishing! Dave was so happy to get to share one of his favorite sports with the kiddos, and Peighton was more than happy to join him! This girl just loves to go fishing with her Daddy.
Peighton and Dave with her first fish of the day.
Carson and Mamma with Carson's first fish EVER! It was all fun until the fish came onto the shore. Carson ran over to me and almost knocked me over trying to get away from it!
Someone actually lived in this tree! He carved out a room on the inside and lived there during the summer months!
My pregnant belly against a tree that Dave thought looked equally pregnant! We are due November 4th.....just 3 weeks to go now!
Carson and Mamma with Carson's first fish EVER! It was all fun until the fish came onto the shore. Carson ran over to me and almost knocked me over trying to get away from it!We ended up having a fabulous trip, the kids loved every minute of it....minus the 5 hour drive! And we decided that it was definately the last big trip before the baby arrives.
Peighton and Dave in Tennessee
Dave and Peighton recently ventured back to Tennessee for a few days. Dave went for work, Peighton went to see Nana and Pa Pete. The flight went great, much to Dave's relief, and Peighton had a blast. She got spoiled by Nana and Pa Pete for a few days and got to see a bunch of her friends who she has really missed! I think that going back, if only for a few days, made Peighton realize that all of her old friends and family really were still there! And even though she still talks about TN all the time I think that it has somehow allowed her to settle in more here!

California
So we finally made it to California! It was a long, crazy trip but we are getting settled into our new home (once it's organized and more of the boxes are gone I'll post photos). We took a trip to one of the beaches here in Carmel last week and it was so beautiful! The weather has been very cool (in the 60's) so we didn't go in the water but both the kids loved playing in the sand.
Can you believe the Army sent us someplace this pretty!!
The first thing Peighton wanted to do was take off her shoes.....then she wanted me to bury her legs in the sand! Cutie pie!
She loved playing in the sand right up until Carson started trying to dig her out! Pesky little brother!
Carson also loved playing in the sand. He's more than happy to play for hours with rocks and sticks!
My sweet happy boy!
Carson with his best four-legged buddy! He likes to use Cody to pull up and then to help keep himself balanced so he can stand "almost" by himself.
He's also fun to crawl on!
Overall we are loving California. Still missing everyone from Tennessee but at least we are starting to feel settled in. Today we went down to Fisherman's Wharf for lunch and watched the sea lions play for an hour while we ate. The kids loved watching the sea lions and all of the birds! it was fabulous.
